As you may have noticed, I am now offering white and black racing striped toe guards!  Great for refs, and the skaters that love them :)

I know, long time no blog Demonica!  It’s been a busy season, and between my day job, derby, and making toe guards I haven’t had much time to post.  Skated in my last game a couple weeks back.  My team the Brooklyn Bombshells played the Providence Pigeons, we won, and I was voted MVP!  I got to jam a lot in this game, my blockers did an great job opening up holes and getting me through the pack.  Providence were an awesome bunch of girls, very fun game.  I am still in shock that my skating season is over.  Now that I can post again, I have a million things I want to put up.  more to come soon :)  Photo by Manish Gosalia

My first time having Skate Snouts listed in an etsy treasury, check it out!  If you are not familiar with etsy treasuries, they are member curated galleries of 12 handpicked items each that feature favorite items, or items selected on a theme.  This treasury features items with a blue and/or orange color palette.  Very pretty.

A little while back I thought about making a quad skate ornament, and finally had some time to experiment with my materials and make it happen.  I wanted to make the low cut quad skate that derby girls know and love, not just the figure skate image that occasionally turns up from time to time.  I love the little toe stop, trucks, and laces.  I’m very happy with the results.  Feel free to check them out in my shop!

I’m really excited about the new Gift Certificates I have for my etsy shop.  They come in two denominations: custom embellishments for $25, or custom stars or racing stripes for $20.  Surprise your girlfriend, team mate, or derby wife with a Skate Snout Gift Certificate!

On Halloween I went to Flushing Meadow Park with some friends.  It was the site of both the 1939 and 1964 World’s fair, and I love walking around and looking for traces of them throughout the park.  There is pretty much nothing left from the 1939 World’s fair, but there is a variety of odd things left from 1964.  The Unisphere, an enormous steel sculpture of the earth, is a definite favorite.   Other things of interest include the New York State Pavilion (also known for it’s appearance in the They Might Be Giants Video “Don’t Let’s Start”), The NYC panorama at the Queens Museum (all 5 boroughs of NYC recreated to scale), and the “star thrower” statue.

Made a batch of Skate Snouts with Racing Stripes, very happy with the results.  A very Voltron force color scheme :)
